This Dialogue is part of a process to co-create an Archives Accreditation scheme that will externally validate and accredit achievement. This page provides you with background information to the process and links to discover more:

People: This process is being lead by a consortium of bodies: The National Archives; National Record of Scotland; Scottish Council on Archives; Cymal; ARCW; Archives and Records Association and Arts Council England. The co-creation process is being managed by Janice Tullock Associates.

Proposition: Following a period of research a proposed model for archives accreditation has been produced for discussion. Alongside this a "destruction" version of the archives accreditation standard has been drawn up to act as a starting point for discussion. Both the model and "destruction" document are starting points only in the co-creation process. The complete model can be downloaded here and the complete "destruction" document can be downloaded here.

Problems: We will post sections of the model and "destruction" standard on a weekly basis and invite comments and rewrites. In particular we are looking for you to use your knowledge and experience to inform the process. We welcome all contributions that provide alternatives to the current model or suggest improvements to the " destruction" document. Each discussion will be open for 10 days after which it will be closed. A week after the closure of a discussion we will post a summary of the discussion and it's influence on the process.

Plan: This dialogue will run until the first week of May 2012 when we hope we will have discussed the model and the "destruction" document in its entireity. We will then produce a draft model and standard which will be piloted in 2012/13 and implemented thereafter.
