It documents the archive service’s approach to digital preservation and outlines the responsibilities, actions and processes required to manage and preserve digital records.

The strategy should respond to the problems engendered by technical obsolescence and the fragile nature of digital media and take into account current standards and guidelines.

The strategy can also help to guide the allocation of resources in forward planning.
